S-STEM I and II
S-STEM I + II are being described together because they are essentially the same. The S-STEM I + II programs are sponsored by the NSF. The programs are administered by the Department of Technology and Society in Stony Brook’s College of Engineering and Applied Sciences. Eligibility for scholarship support is based upon economic need as determined by a student’s eligibility to receive federal scholarship support. The S-STEM I program supports all the majors in the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences. The S-STEM II program supports all of the other science majors at the University. The goal and objectives of the S-STEM I + II programs are to support students in economic need, to increase the number of students who receive degrees in S-STEM disciplines, and to help students become members of Long Island’s high technology workforce.
