Opportunities for Enhancing Diversity in the Geosciences (OEDG)

The Opportunities for Enhancing Diversity in the Geosciences (OEDG) program is sponsored by the National Science Foundation. The aim of OEDG, known locally as Stony Brook GeoPREP, is to increase the number of underrepresented minority students who pursue degrees in the Geosciences (Geology, Meteorology, and Oceanography). Our initial efforts have focused on high school students and in-service earth science teachers with collaborating partners that include CSTEP, STEP, LSAMP, Brookhaven National Laboratory, the School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences, the Center for Science and Mathematics Education and the Departments of Geosciences and Technology and Society.
