Sharps Waste Notice

Effective Tuesday, July 5, 2011, sharps containers will no longer be picked up directly from laboratories in the Life Sciences and Center for Molecular Medicine Buildings, nor will they be picked up on Thursday, July 7, 2011 from laboratories in the Clinical Science and Basic Science Towers.

Rather, each and every Wednesday beginning with Wednesday, July 6, 2011, laboratory personnel will need to bring their full* sharps containers to a conveniently located central location (click here for a list of locations and the schedule) where they can be exchanged for clean, empty replacement containers.

* Please utilize the "fill" line on the side of each Daniels sharps container to ensure they are not overfilled. In general, sharps containers should not be filled in excess of 75% container capacity.

*** IMPORTANT *** Laboratories that generate Regulated Medical Waste (Red Bag Waste or RMW) may also bring full, taped/sealed boxes to either of these locations, same day and time as the sharps service, where they can be dropped off and/or replacement supplies can be retrieved.
