Domestic Violence Awareness Month
Take a Stand and Walk with Me against Domestic Violence Join Stony Brook University students, faculty, and staff as we stand to support survivors of domestic violence. The Center for Prevention and Outreach annual Take a Stand and Walk with Me against Domestic Violence event will be held October 23 during Campus LifeTime (1:00 - 2:30 PM) SAC Plaza to SAC Auditorium. Stony Brook Medicine will also have information tables outside the cafeteria from 10:00 - 2:00 PM. Purple is the color of domestic violence awareness - wear your purple proudly on October 23 to show your commitment to ending all forms of relationship and dating violence.

This workshop will explore the issue of relationship violence (also known as domestic violence or intimate partner violence) among college students. We will examine various forms of relationship violence experienced by College Students (including emotional, physical and sexual abuse, as well as stalking and other forms of violence within relationships). Data reflecting prevalence will be reviewed, as will warning signs of unhealthy or abusive relationships, myths and facts, information about victim experience, and resources both on and off-campus for supporting survivors.
