Minority/Women Business Enterprise

The State University of New York is committed to the economic resurgence of New York State. Each year SUNY System Administration and campuses located throughout the State purchase commodities and contract for services amounting to millions of dollars. Minority and women-owned business enterprises are an integral part of the State's business community. The State University of New York has long been aware of the important and expanding role minority and women-owned businesses play in maintaining the economic well-being of the State.

Operating primarily as small businesses, they are the backbone of the State's economy. Thus, creating opportunities for full participation in our free enterprise system by minority and women-owned business enterprises is essential to obtaining social and economic equality and improving the functioning of our State's economy.

SUNY is steadfast in its belief that strengthening this growing segment of the economy will enhance the University’s ability to fulfill its important role in the educational/economic development equation of New York State. With the M/WBE program now in place, SUNY is in a unique position to continue its commitment to the State’s economic resurgence and, at the same time, serve as a catalyst to bring about social and economic parity.
