Acting Academy
for Ages 10 to 15

Campers will be exposed to acting through speech, dance, gesture, stagehand work, and more. Your end result will be a final performance of a production play. Campers should consider two consecutive weeks of Acting Camp as final performances are on July 18 and August 15.

Athletic/Art Academy
for Ages 13 to 15

In this Studio Art Academy, students explore 2-D design through the use of basic concepts of shape, value, line, space, linear perspective, and texture. Students will participate in guided drawing exercises developing techniques and approaches with both group and individualized instruction for half the day, and athletic activities and swimming for the remaining half of day.

Athletic/Medical Academy
for Ages 8 to 15

The Athletic/Medical Academy offers campers a mix of both summertime athletic activities within the Sports Complex, and three hours with the Departments of Pharmacology and Physiology engaged in a special program exposing young ones to the fields of medicine and biomedical research. Campers not only will have the opportunity to interact with doctors and other hospital staff to learn about patient care, they will also enjoy many hands-on experiences involving patient diagnosis testing and biomedical research. Each week offers its own unique experiences.

Computer Academy
for Ages 10 to 15

Dive into the CPU and learn how to create posters, Web sites, CDs, and more! This academy offers a range of computer knowledge from operating system basics to graphic design.

Game Builders Academy—Video Game Design and Development
for Ages 8 to 16

Level 1
This introductory course provides campers the opportunity to create at least two individualized full-working video games while developing, using, and strengthening math, logic, communication, concentration, and critical thinking, problem-solving, and creative thinking skills. Campers learn to create art and animation for games, and incorporate sounds, music, video, and other multimedia elements.

Session #16: July 7 to July 18
Session #17: July 21 to August 1
Session #18: August 4 to August 15

Level 2 Campers will learn to write object-oriented computer programming code to develop a high-level video game, and will complete at least one multilevel game and a number of software “toys.” Level 1 is a prerequisite to Level 2. All campers will also enjoy a half day of athletic activities and swimming.

Great Knights Chess or Chess/Medical Academy
for Ages
8 to 15
The Departments of Pharmacology and Physiology and the Great Knights are offering a Chess Academy and a combined Chess/Medical Academy. Campers now have a choice of spending a full day practicing their best chess moves or splitting the day between chess and mini-medical school. Campers that select the medical portion of this program will have ample opportunity to participate in hands-on diagnostic testing, interacting with doctors and other hospital staff, and learning about the fields of medicine and biomedical research.

Making Reading Fun
for ages 6 to 7

For beginner readers, our curriculum will enhance various language skills and reading comprehension, making reading fun! While your child’s skills will be reinforced for half the day, the remainder of the day will be spent enjoying a swim in the pool and playing sports.

Science Academy
for Ages 6 to 7
Campers will spend three hours daily at the Museum of Long Island Natural Sciences, Department of Geosciences, where they will experience a variety of scientific adventures. Through nature walks around campus, lab activities, age-appropriate crafts, and more, campers will explore the world around them. The remainder of the day will be spent enjoying a swim in the pool and playing sports.
