Sunwood Estate

The Sunwood Estate, located on the north shore overlooking the Long Island Sound, on clear day offers a view of Connecticut’s shoreline.   Ward Melville, benefactor of Stony Brook, donated the mansion to the State University of New York at Stony Brook in 1958.   Following a fire that destroyed the original estate, the mansion was rebuilt to reflect its original elegance.
