石溪大学孔子学院成立于2008年11月份，是由石溪大学与中国国家汉语办公室（汉办）一起合作建立的。中南财经政法大学是石溪大学孔子学院的中方合作院校。
Established in November 2008, the Confucius Institute at Stony Brook University (CISBU) is an educational partnership between Stony Brook University and China’s Office of Chinese Language Council International, or Hanban. CISBU also maintains a partnership with its Chinese affiliate Zhongnan University of Economics and Law in Wuhan, China.

石溪大学孔子学院为石溪大学以及周边社区提供资源和服务，致力于加强人们对中国语言和中国文化的了解。同时，也寻求其他各种加强中美文化交流与合作的机会。
The Confucius Institute at Stony Brook University serves as a resource for Stony Brook University and the surrounding community. CISBU aims to enhance the community’s understanding of Chinese language and culture. In addition, CISBU seeks to strengthen cultural exchanges and cooperation between China and the United States.

石溪大学孔子学院为社区提供的交流项目有：
The Confucius Institute at Stony Brook University will offer the following services to the community:

1. 中文课程和中文图书馆Chinese language classes and Chinese language library
2. 中国文化表演和演讲Chinese cultural performances and lectures
3. 旅游及商务汉语的课程Courses on introductory Chinese for travel and business
4. 中文教师的培训Training of Chinese language instructors
