Olufemi Vaughan is the author of Nigerian Chiefs: Traditional Power in Modern Politics, 1890s-1990s (Cecil B. Currey Book Prize of the Association of Third World Studies) and Chiefs, Power, and Social Change: Chiefship and Modern Politics in Botswana, 1880s-1990s, and the editor of several volumes on state-society relations in twentieth-century Africa. He has also published widely in major Africanist and comparativist journals.
