Community Yoga Workshop
Please join us for multi-level yoga classes (appropriate for beginners to advanced students) designed to bring mind, body, and spirit into alignment. This is a hatha yoga class. Introduced by Yogi Swatmarama, a sage of 15th century India, traditional Hatha Yoga represents opposing energies: hot and cold (fire and water, following similar concept as yin-yang), male and female, positive and negative and attempts to balance mind and body via asana (poses), pranayama (breath control), and the calming of the mind through relaxation and meditation. Please wear comfortable clothing and bring a mat.
Suggested $5 admission fee for instructor.

Eye on Asian Pacific America Workshop
Open to all SBU students, Corky shares his masterful tips on how to keep an eye out for significant incidents, viewpoints and photograph-worthy phenomena on the SBU campus that depict Asianness. A walking tour of the campus is included. Select participants’ works will be exhibited during Asian Heritage Month in April.
Presented with support from the Confucius Institute at Stony Brook University, The Asian American Research Institution (AARI), Asian Cultural Circle, and the Organization of Chinese Americans - Long Island Chapter (OCA-LI).

Tai Chi and Tai Chi Tao Ying Workshop with Shu-Gi Cheng
Renowned Taiwanese dancer Shu-Gi Cheng, of the Cloud Gate Dance Theatre, presents a lecture/workshop on Tai Chi and Tai Chi Tao Ying, a unique Chinese exercise that is believed to enhance flexibility and support an energetic chi (or qi, meaning "life force"). Cheng explains the connections between Tai Chi and various forms and repertoires of Taiwanese dance, details differences between Tai Chi and Tai Chi Tao Ying and shows how their techniques are used in dance compositions, as well as how grace, beauty and well being are attained through these techniques.
Cheng then invites the audience to participate in an introductory workshop on these techniques. The practice of Tai Chi Tao Ying appeals to people with all kinds of physical constitutions – from ordinary people to experienced dancers.
