Celebrating Asian and American
Cultures
The Wang Center is dedicated to presenting
the public with a multifaceted, intellectually sound, and humane
understanding of
Asian and Asian
American cultures, and their relationship to other cultures. The facilities are designed as a vital space for multidisciplinary and multicultural
dialogues and include exhibit spaces, an interdenominational chapel, an Asian food court,
a theater,
two lecture halls, a series of interior and exterior pools and terraces,
and more
than 35,000
square feet of tranquil gardens. The Center
is used for conferences, art exhibits, film festivals, lectures, seminars,
and performances. It is open to all Stony Brook students,
faculty, and staff, as well as the surrounding community.
Performances
The
Wang Center proudly hosts an enthralling selection of entertainment
each semester, including world-renowned musical groups, comedians,
theatrical troupes, and performance artists. More »
Exhibitions
The gracious and expansive exhibit spaces play host to a range of exciting displays from artists around the world. More »
Films
Wang Center films feature a wide
range of cinematic styles and cultures. Films include the Port Jefferson
Documentary Series, Confucius Institute films, independent films,
Bollywood films, the Korean Film Series, and many others. More »
Lectures
Each semester brings a new schedule of speakers, including novelists, poets, artists, directors, professors, and even visiting dignitaries. More »
Workshops
The extensive selections of
workshops include Community Yoga, Tai Chi, Buddhism Study and Practice,
meditation groups, and the annual Herstory Writers Workshop, to name a

Cultural Events
Annual events include the Indian Festival of Lights and the TellabrAsian Storytelling event each fall, Chinese New Year Celebration and the Sakura Matsuri Cherry Blossom Festival in the spring, the summer Origami Heaven Festival, as well as a wealth of diverse events reflecting the rich tapestry of cultures represented by the spirit of the Wang Center.
