Jian Jung (Jee an Jung) is a New York based set and costume designer for theaters and operas.
Her opera works have been seen in Long Beach Opera (CA), Juilliard, Manhattan School of Music, Galapagos Art Space and Hofstra University. Her theater works have been in many downtown New York theaters including Classic Stage Company, The Living Theater, Incubator Arts Project and TBG Theatre, and educational instutitions including Columbia University and The New School. She also has been working for Latin American theater comunity for a long time in New York City, such as INTAR, Repertorio Espanol, Teatro IATI and Pregones Theater.
She recently designed set for 'Crimen Y Castigo' (Crime and Punishment) in Caracas, Venezuela. Zoetrope, a new play she designed set and costumes, has been selected as one of the finalists for the Encuentro Festival 2014 at LATC in California, then the production will travel to Puerto Rico in 2015.
Her design works have been acclaimed as 'innovative', 'inventive', 'genius' and 'spectacular' by major press including New York Times and Time Out New York. While her productions range from classic masterpieces to new plays by young artists, her design always focuses on innovative delivery of the piece, provoking audience's expectations.
