Mallory Catlett is an Obie award winning Director/dramaturg of performance across disciplines from City Council Meeting – an experiment in participatory democracy with Aaron Landsman and Jim Findlay that the audience performs, to Dread Scott’s performance installation - Dread Scott: Decision in BAM’s Next Wave Festival, to This Was The End - a remix of Chekhov's Uncle Vanya that won an Obie, a Bessie and a American Theater Wing’s David Hewes Award. Her work has also premiered in NYC at The Ohio, HERE Arts Center, The Ontological-Hysteric Theater, PS122, the Collapsable Hole and been featured at CultureMart, COIL and The Prelude Festivals. Internationally her work has toured to Canada, France, The Netherlands, UK, Ireland & Australia.

She was a member of the 2006 SOHO REP writers/directors lab and been a resident artist at the Ontological’s Incubator, HERE’s HARP Program, Abrons Arts Center, Chashama, Digital Performance and a British Studies Fellow at the Harry Ransom Research Center at UT, Austin. Her work has been funded by NYS Council for the Humanities, the NY Music Fund, NPN, NYSCA, Chashama, LMCC (MCAF, Community Arts Fund and Swing Space), Puffin, Edith Lutyens & Bel Geddes, Tobin Theatre Fund, Mary Duke Biddle Foundation, Strickland Family Fund, Greenwall Foundation, MAP Fund, New England Foundation for the Arts, Jerome, Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation, and a two-time NYSCA Individual Artist Commission. She received the Elliot Hayes Award for Dramaturgy for her co-direction of the Juggernaut’s The First 100 Years: The Professional Female Playwright. Her writing on theater has been published in Canadian Theater Review and in Theater Magazine - an essay on and the script of City Council Meeting. She is a Foundation for the Contemporary 2015 Grants to Artists Awardee.
