Students may choose from the following types of programs:
- Faculty-Led Programs: A Stony Brook University faculty member instructs a group of students at an overseas location. Language proficiency is not required. These programs are typically offered over the intersession. Programs to the Turkana Basin Institute and Madagascar are available during the semester.
- International Summer School: Students apply through SBU to participate as an exchange student at an international summer school offered by one of SBU’s partner universities. Students will select courses offered by the partner institution. Language proficiency may be required. Students receive transcripts from the partner institution.
- Exchange Programs: Students apply through SBU as an exchange student directly at one of SBU’s partner universities. Students enroll directly at a partner university as an exchange student for a semester or an academic year. Language proficiency may be required. Students receive transcripts from the partner institution.
