UISFL Language Study Scholarship:
 
The Language Learning Research Center at Stony Brook University invites applications for scholarships to fund study abroad. These scholarships are funded through a generous grant from the U.S. Department of Education for Undergraduate International Studies and Foreign Languages (UISFL). Applicants must be a participant on one of SBU's study abroad programs in a country where the primary language spoken is not English.

SUNY Diversity Abroad Honors Scholars Program:

The Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship: Click Here
 
Offers awards for study abroad to U.S. citizen students who are receiving federal Pell Grant funding at a 2 year or 4 year college or university. Selected by competition, recipients are awarded up to $5000 to defray the costs associated with studying abroad.


 
The Santander Global Scholarships:
 

Applicants must:
- apply to one of Stony Brook University’s study abroad programs in the Universidad de Alcala, Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, or the Universidad de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria;
- be a full-time undergraduate SUNY student;
- have a 3.0 GPA or above.

Application Procedures:
- Complete the SBU study abroad application as directed on the Study Abroad webpage: http://www.stonybrook.edu/commcms/studyabroad/outgoing/app_process.html
- Complete this form, Santander Global Scholars Scholarship Application.

Application deadline extended to March 15th, 2016.

The Fund for Education Abroad Scholarships: Click Here
 
The Fund for Education Abroad offers a number of scholarships for US citizens or permanent residents currently enrolled in US universities and colleges planning to study abroad for at least four weeks between September and August. Awards include a general scholarship as well as a number of dedicated scholarships.

Diversity Abroad offers scholarships for summer study abroad programs, underrepresented students in study abroad, and students studying in Asia. Award amounts vary.
 
 

David L. Boren Undergraduate Scholarships: Click Here
 
Focuses on geographical areas, languages, and fields of study deemed critical to U.S. national security. Emphasized world regions include Africa, Asia, Central Asia, Eastern Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean. Study of a foreign language appropriate to the identified country must be part of each proposal.

Freeman Awards for Study in Asia (Freeman-ASIA) provides scholarships for U.S. undergraduate students with demonstrated financial need to study abroad in East or Southeast Asia.
 
BUTEX (British Universities Transatlantic Exchange Association): Click Here
 
The Scholarship is open to all undergraduate students currently registered at an institution in the USA or Canada. To be eligible to apply you must have been offered a study abroad or exchange place at a UK university which is BUTEX affiliated. Your study abroad or exchange place must be for the academic year and your place must be for a minimum of one semester. The value of each scholarship is £500 and will be paid to the winners once they have arrived and registered at their host university.

Scholarships available for semester study abroad programs in Germany! The application deadline for Fall 2016/Spring 2017 is January 31, 2016. For additional information on this grant and how to apply, please visit: www.daad.org/undergrad
Konstanz, Germany: 
The city of Konstanz is located at the intersection of Germany, Switzerland, and Austria. Situated on the Bodensee (or Lake Konstanz) in the foothills of the Swiss Alps, its unique geography lends itself to outdoor pursuits of all kinds. Group excursions include an medieval castle in Meersburg, the Vorarlberg region of Austria, and the state of Liechtenstein. Participants take German language courses, and fulfill general education requirements. Students earn GLO, LANG, EXP+, and SBS+. The $800 Program Fee includes housing and excursions.

China:
All participants in the Summer in Wuhan program will receive a scholarship from and be hosted by Zhongnan University of Economics and Law (ZUEL), partner university of SBU’s Confucius Institute. ZUEL is located in Wuhan, the capital of Hubei province and one of the most ancient cities in China. Cultural excursions include the ‘Bund’ in Shanghai, the Three Gorges, the Terracotta Warriors, the Forbidden City, and the Great Wall of China. The $1,000 Program Fee includes housing, three meals per day, excursions, and in-country travel.

TaLK (Teach and Learn in Korea) is a Korean government sponsored internship/scholarship program which invites undergraduate students in English-speaking countries to Korea to teach English in elementary school after-school programs either for 6 months or 12 months. TaLK scholars work for 15 hours on average a week. Upon arrival, they participate in a month-long orientation before field assignment. Benefits include stipends (approx. $1,500 a month), $400 settlement allowance upon arrival and free housing. Application deadline is due April 1 for Fall.

 

Japan:
 
The Okayama University Scholarship is offering a scholarship to international students based on the Okayama University International Exchange Fund. The students who enroll in Exchange Program Okayama (EPOK) and do not receive JASSO Scholarship can apply for this scholarship. Please Click Here

The Bridging Scholarship for Study Abroad in Japan aids undergraduates majoring in any field of study are eligible to apply for these scholarships. Japanese language study is not a prerequisite. Applicants must be a US citizen or permanent resident and be enrolled as an undergraduate in a college or university in the US. Please Click Here

The Morgan Stanley Scholarships for Study in Japan aid students while abroad. Eligible students include juniors and seniors at US universities with an interest in economics and international finance who have been accepted for study in Japan for the academic year. Please Click Here

The JASSO/Japanese Student Service Organization Scholarships are private scholarships for select programs in Japan. Please Click Here



Sweden:
 
Challenge Your Perspectives 2015: One American bachelor's student will be awarded with a full tuition fee waiver for a master’s program at Chalmers University of Technology, in the Technology Management and Economics department and a summer job at Volvo in 2016 in Gothenburg, Sweden. The programs for the scholarship include: Entrepreneurship and Business Design, Management and Economics of Innovation, Quality and Operations Management, and Supply Chain Management.

National and Private Scholarships for Graduate Study Abroad

 

Teach & Learn in Spain Study Program: Click Here
 
The objective of the Teach & Learn in Spain Study Program is to provide native English speaking students with the opportunity of spending a whole academic year in Spain, studying a Master´s Program from the Universidad de Alcalá under a scholarship scheme, while doing an internship as language assistants in schools of the region od Madrid- Comunidad de Madrid. Internships include a stipend.



Chinese Government Scholarship Offered for International MA Program in Educational Leadership and Policy: Click Here
 
This program will enroll 25 international students for 2012 with generous financial support from the Chinese Government. Around the top 40% of the international students will be awarded a full Chinese Government Scholarship based on candidates' academic excellence covering their tuition fees and living expenses for two years. Other students will also have the opportunity to get Beijing Government Scholarships which will cover tuition for at least one year.

Since our establishment in 2002, IESD has enrolled 160 international Master students and 46 Ph.D students from over 45 countries. Many excellent and hard-working students have been offered internships in international organizations including the headquarters and regional offices of United Nations agencies. Many high-level academic forums and student activities in IESD and Tongji are also open for participating students.
