About the Program
International Student Exchange Program at Tokyo University of Foreign Studies is designed
for international exchange students. ISEP provides participants with the opportunity
to acquire a firm understanding of Japanese culture and deepen perspectives on current
international relations on an academic level.

Course of Study
The program will have a broad selection of courses, along with local excursions and cultural activities available exclusively for exchange participants. Students will also have the opportunity to interact and make friends with their peers from around the globe. *Please note these arrangements and additional fees involved are coordinated directly with the partner university.

This is an exchange program. Applications must be submitted to Stony Brook University first. Information regarding the next steps in the process will be distributed to students who have received formal nominations by their Exchange Advisor.

Students must be matriculated in an undergraduate degree program.
Academic Year Admission: February 1
$3,235 per semester for NY residents;
$11,855 per semester for non-residents
$750 per semester

$55 per month approximately. Note: The host university may also require a domestic health plan, and will send details regarding costs to students directly.
$4,500 (approximately; Students pay room, board, books, transportation and other university fees directly to overseas university)
$2,000 (approximately; Students are responsible for their travel arrangements including airfare, visa costs)
Costs are estimates for planning purposes of the student and are subject to change at any point.
Housing arrangements are coordinated directly with the partner university. Cost will vary depending on accommodation types and personal preference.
Cost Comparison: The average cost for a full time Stony Brook Student including tuition, insurance, housing, and meal plan is approximately $10,445 in-state and $15,735 out-of-state.
Grades earned in an exchange program WILL NOT calculate towards the cumulative GPA for SBU students.
