Winter 2017 in Ireland

About the Program

Ireland’s rich cultural heritage endured the colonial period and then the more recent post-industrial eras as one of the “Celtic Tigers.” Students will begin their exploration in Galway, followed by a stay in Killarney where they will visit the Ring of Kerry. Students will then head to the site of one of the first English Plantations – Kilkenny. The trip wraps up in Dublin, the capital. Day trips include Connemara, The Cliffs of Moher, and Belfast. Through visits to cliffs and castles, cathedrals and tombs, fortresses and museums, mountains and more, students will explore the vibrant history and culture of Ireland.

Student Feedback:

  • I would choose traveling over intersession. It was was an amazing experience because instead of being on my own (like for a semester program) I was with a fun group & we always had activities planned. - Participant, Winter 2016, Ireland
  • Just do it. Have fun. Make memories. Put time into the coursework. Have respect for the local culture and make a genuine attempt to immerse yourself in the culture. - Participant, Winter 2016, Ireland
  • I found I was better able to retain information because we were learning in a hands on environment (castles, museums, etc.) instead of exclusively in a classroom. - Participant, Winter 2016, Ireland
