About the Program

Alcalá de Henares offers participants a relaxed, college town atmosphere conveniently located near the city of Madrid.  Famed for its history, Alcalá is the birthplace of author Miguel de Cervantes and its city center has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is home to the University of Alcalá de Henares where students will have to opportunity to take Spanish language and culture courses that fulfill major and/or Diversified Education Curriculum requirements.

Course of Study

All participants will take a total of 6 credits (2 courses). Click "View Course Information" at the bottom of the page for a complete listing of courses available.  Course transfer information for SBU students majoring/minoring in Spanish available upon request.  All participants following the Stony Brook Curriculum (SBC) will fulfill GLO and EXP+ in addition to requirement(s) fulfilled by their coursework

Travel Costs

Estimated Airfare: $1,500.  All student participants will travel together to the study abroad site.  Students who do not abide by this policy may be dismissed from the program.

Costs are estimates for planning purposes of the student and are subject to change at any point.

More Information

Credits earned on this program do not calculate toward a student's GPA at Stony Brook University. Non-SBU students are advised to check their home university policy on grade and credit transfer.
