    About the Program

    The 2018 Advanced Critical Language Institute for Russian Immersion (ACLI) is specifically designed to help students of all levels improve their fluency in all aspects of the Russian language. Intermediate and advanced ACLI students pledge to speak only Russian for the duration of the program and enjoy Russian speaking homestays. All participants study for four to five hours daily in small groups with native speaking specialists from St. Petersburg State University, one of Russia’s oldest and most famous educational institutions.

    Language Proficiency All students in good academic standing, including those with no previous Russian language study, may apply.
    Program Term Summer
    Living Arrangements ACLI students will live in residence halls with Russian-speaking roommates. 

    Russian-family home stay may be available upon request.

    Other Requirements Applicants MUST include an image of a current passport that has two blank adjacent visa pages and that is valid through at least Jan 2019

    Candidates may be interviewed to determine their qualifications for participating and representing Stony Brook University abroad.

    $1,008 per credit for non-residents

    Program Fee $2,250 (includes residence hall housing, 1 meals a day, metro pass, group excursions, international health insurance)

    Other Fees Estimated Visa Fee: $250 (additional fees may apply)
    Travel Costs Estimated Airfare: $900 - $1,200.  All student participants will travel together to the study abroad site
    Costs are estimates for planning purposes of the student and are subject to change at any point.
    Graduate students will be charged tuition at the current graduate student tuition rate.
