Stony Brook University is located on Long Island sixty miles east of New York City
and only a few miles from the nearest beach. A Long Island Railroad (LIRR) station
is located on campus providing easy travel to and from New York City and JFK International
Airport. A bus service is also available for travel between the Stony Brook Campus
and New York City.

There are seven main dining facilities on campus including, Asian-themed eatery featuring Chinese, Indian, Korean, Japanese grill, sushi, and Thai cuisine. There are also major food chains such as Red Mango and Starbucks Coffee. SBU also offers Caribbean, Mexican, and South American cuisine. Stony Brook University offers meal plan options for resident, commuter and apartment students. Students residing in residential halls are required to purchase a meal plan. Campus ID Card
Upon arrival at Stony Brook or during orientation, each student will receive a Campus ID card. The campus ID card is your identification as a Stony Brook student and provides you access to on-campus housing, meal plan, Wolfie Wallet, laundry services, gym and free fitness classes.
Wolfie Wallet is a financial system which allows students to add money to their Stony Brook Campus ID card. It is used to make food purchases from some off campus vendors, laundry, and vending machines. For more information Click Here.
