About

All Staller Center Arts and Education Outreach programs are free of charge to the campus and community and fully supported by generous private donations to the Barbara N. Wien Fund and the Educational Outreach Endowment from individuals who value advancing the arts in young people’s lives.

We invite you to join us at a Staller Center Arts & Education Outreach program and experience the excitement in the air. The Staller Center is dedicated to providing cultural arts experiences and educational opportunities to the local community and Stony Brook University students of all ages from preschool through young adult. Some Educational Outreach programs include First on Us, Seats 4 Students, Staller Kids Series, Virtual Educational Resources and the ever-popular Instrument Petting Zoo.

The Staller Center's Educational Outreach Programming shares the arts with SBU students at both University and Hospital Campuses as well as providing complimentary tickets and arts workshops to Stony Brook Children's Hospital, Stony Brook Cancer Center and Stony Brook Medicine.

- Since 2005, contributions to the Staller Center's Educational Outreach Program areas have grown 85%.

- Over 7,500 school-age children have benefited over the years from the various programming efforts.

- The Staller Center works with 15 school districts, 73 local libraries, and 58 non-profit organizations on Long Island.

SUPPORT

The Barbara N. Wien Endowment for Arts and Education helps to support the Staller Center’s Educational Outreach initiatives. This fund began in 2005 as a way to direct valuable contributions to the youth on Long Island. The fund was created as a dedication to Staller Center staff member, Barbara (Bobbie) N. Wien by her children to celebrate her 25th work anniversary. Bobbie went on to devote another 10 years at the Staller Center before retiring in 2015 at the age of 88. Bobbie has since passed on, but her love of the arts and commitment to the Staller Center were felt by all who knew her. The Barbara N. Wien Fund continues to grow each year and provide amazing arts experiences for youth of all ages. Many of our Friends of Staller direct a portion of their annual support to keeping Bobbie’s legacy alive and arts education in the forefront.

The Staller Center Educational Outreach Fund was established in 2012 by a generous couple who helped create a vision for focusing on the growth of Educational Outreach. The development of this program would be helped by appointing a dedicated staff member to organize community and campus relationships, subsidize complimentary show tickets and provide school age children in underserved areas on Long Island increased arts exposure through field trip experiences. A large portion of support to this particular fund is made by another couple who envisioned the launching of the extremely popular Instrument Petting Zoo program which continues to increase and gain incredible coverage on Long Island.
