Hi!  I’m Jack McSweeney.  I am a coastal physical oceanographer interested in the interconnected dynamics driving transport within and between coastal subregions, including the inner shelf, surfzone, and estuaries.

I’m an Assistant Professor at the School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences (SOMAS) at Stony Brook University.  My research interests include: 1) the dynamics of shoaling internal waves and their contribution to cross-shelf transport, 2) estuarine and coastal sediment transport, 3) the influence of buoyant plumes, and 4) spatiotemporal variability of stratification in coastal subregions.
