March 2017 Red Watch Band CARE Team Member Spotlight:
Lillian Pao
Lillian is the perfect example of what it means to be a Seawolf that CARES! Thanks to her efforts we were able to train over 1,200 students in the Fall 2016 semester and will continue training and conducting outreach this Spring. Lillian even submitted artwork for the Center for Prevention and Outreach's Prevention Through the Arts contest last year and came in first place. Check out her artwork below.
Major: Evolutionary Biology History and Anthropology
Hobbies: Gallery sightseeing, DIY arts and crafts, eating at new restaurants
Why I joined the CARE Team: I joined the CARE Team because I wanted to be a part of
a big family that is making a difference in our community. After my first Red Watch
Band training by Ellen Driscoll in Fall 2015, I became more aware of the signs of
toxic drinking and I wanted to share the empowering experience with everyone else.
Since my first training, I've been trained several more times and I've learned something
new each and every time. I've never stopped loving or learning from each training
because every second counts.
Bio: I am a first-generation junior here at Stony Brook University and I am part of
Stony Brook Strong. I have been an Office Assistant at the Tabler Quad Office for
the past three years, Welcome Wagon Quad Coordinator, and a Teaching Assistant for
the Department of Anthropology. I am also a Copy Editor and Writer for Stony Brook
Young Investigators Review, an undergraduate science journal publication. You may
often find me at Stony Brook Hospital's Primary Care Clinic as a Geriatric Intern
as well. Its an upbeat and lively place full of people who give great life advice
and experiences. I want to be a Physician Assistant and help people from all walks
of life. Stony Brook has given me so many opportunities and I strive to make a difference
in my community with my big and loving CARE Team family.
