The Stony Brook University Office of Academic Assessment
The Office of Academic Assessment (OAA) is a new office created in July 2017 on recommendation
of the Provost's Task Force on Academic Assessment (July 2013) and the Middles States
Commission on Higher Education (2014). The inaugural Director is D. Kane Gillespie, DMA, with expert assistance by Glenn Hackett.
Mission
To facilitate the development and utilization of assessment protocols across all academic units. |
Vision
To add value to the educational mission of the university; and to establish a meaningful, inclusive, thoughtful, and transparent process of continuous improvement in support of the University’s Mission. |
Scope
Academic Assessment: as it pertains to student learning at the academic program level (degrees, certificates, general education). |
