2.Few spots left in Fall Communicating Science Courses
Through a special arrangement with the Alda Center for Communicating Science, postdocs
may sign up through the Postdoc Office to take the Alda Center's nationally-renowned
communicating science classes for FREE. Space is limited, with two postdoc spots in
each section of most courses. Postdocs may only take one course per semester.

Travel Awards: Travel awards will be provided for all eligible applicants (those not receiving federal
funding and meeting other criteria e.g., citizenship/residency status) who are approved
and selected to participate in the Institute. The maximum amount for the travel award is $1,250.

The FNIH is seeking a Scientific Program Manager-Metabolic Disorders (SPM-MD) to
design, promote and execute major research partnerships with diverse stakeholders,
including biopharmaceutical companies, healthcare not-for-profit partners, government,
and academic scientists. The Foundation for the National Institutes of Health (FNIH)
creates and manages alliances with public and private institutions in support of the
mission of the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
Have you had "the mentoring talk" with your supervisor? AAMC Postdoc Compact can help.
In 2006, the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) developed the
Compact Between Postdoctoral Appointees and Their Mentorsas a tool for promoting the development of positive mentoring relationships between
postdoctoral appointees and their mentors. The document itself, updated in January
2017, can be used in many ways, but it provides a starting point for discussion of
the mentoring responsibilities a postdoc and her/his supervisor have TO EACH OTHER.
At some institutions, it is used as a contract that both parties sign. Others use
it to provide discussion prompts for the sometimes awkward "talk" about mentoring.
How you use it is up to you. Feel free to blame it on the Postdoc Office for suggesting
it! But think of it as a tool for starting and maintaining open communication with
your PI/boss/supervisor/mentor, which in turn can help ensure that you have a productive
and satisfying postdoctoral experience.
