The Office of Institutional Diversity and Equity (OIDE) is charged with ensuring that Stony Brook University provides a campus environment that is safe, welcoming, accessible and free from all forms of discrimination. An important part of fulfilling this mission is serving as the primary resource on disability-services, procedures and related information for University employees. Accessibility and reasonable accommodation practices and procedures have been developed and implemented to ensure that qualified disabled employees can receive equal access to employment opportunity and best serve the campus community. Any employee with a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits her/his ability to perform the essential functions of her/his job position may request a reasonable accommodation. Stony Brook University’s standards and procedures for processing requests for accommodation comply with the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act and the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.

Employees should refer to the Employee Documentation of accommodation request form (Online) or   accommodation request form (DOCX); all request should be submitted to your designated ADA human resource representative, please review below for the appropriate office.

The Employee Disability Accommodation Process is a collaborative and interactive process between the staff member, the supervisor (if necessary), Human Resources (HR) and the Office of Institutional Diversity and Equity (if necessary.)
