Impressions de Pelléas: The Stony Brook Opera presents Marius Constant’s and Peter Brook’s adaptation of Debussy’s opera Pelléas et Mélisande for a cast of six singers, accompanied by two pianos and percussion. This riveting, 90-minute chamber adaptation of Debussy’s symbolist opera is not to be missed. David Lawton conducts the Stony Brook Opera cast and the instrumental ensemble; Metropolitan Opera soprano Jennifer Aylmer returns as stage director.

The Stony Brook Opera and Stony Brook Symphony Orchestra present a fully staged production of Benjamin Britten’s 1946 opera The Rape of Lucretia. A searing indictment of European fascism, this gripping opera features a cast of eight singers and a chamber orchestra of 13 players. Stony Brook Opera is proud to present soprano
Ju Hyeon Han as the female chorus in the opera. Han is the first blind singer to perform a leading role in an American college or conservatory production.
Timothy Long conducts; Ted Altschuler makes his Stony Brook Opera debut as stage director.
