Ensembles

Many university ensembles hold open auditions for community members.  Please contact the individual ensemble leaders for more information.

University Orchestra
The University Orchestra (MUS262) rehearses weekly on Tuesday evenings from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. in 0111 Staller, and presents a series of concerts at Staller Center each semester. Wind Ensemble
The Wind Ensemble performs an exciting international array of works from various time periods and genres. In each concert, the Ensemble presents compositions unique to the wind repertoire, grand orchestral transcriptions, and Broadway and Pop favorites. These concerts are a must for those seeking a diverse and foot-tapping evening! Maestro Bruce Engel leads the Wind Ensemble. Stony Brook Chorale
The Chorale performs a masterwork concert in the Fall and a mixed concert in the Spring of music ranging from contemporary to gospel to world music.  Chorale meets Monday evenings from 7:15pm to 9:45pm.  Auditions are usually held before the second class meeting.  For more information, contact conductor Shoshana Hershkowitz at shoshana.hershkowitz@stonybrook.edu.

Jazz Ensembles
Stony Brook's jazz ensembles cover the spectrum from small acoustic groups, to electrified fusion/funk combos, to big band.
