Alice Cavanaugh is the Director of Choral Ensembles and Coordinator of Applied Music at Suffolk County Community College in Selden, NY. In addition to directing the College Choir and Suffolk Singers, she teaches courses in music history. Prior to joining the faculty of SCCC, she taught at Concordia College in Bronxville, NY and at Phillips Exeter Academy in New Hampshire, and worked for the Berkshire Choral Festival in Massachusetts. An active conductor on Long Island, she has directed the Babylon Chorale, the Choral Society of the Hamptons, and has performed for the St. Mark’s Episcopal Early Music Concert Series in Islip. She has published in The Choral Journal and is a frequent lecturer for the Suffolk College Women’s Week symposium. She holds degrees from SUNY Stony Brook, the Jacob School of Music at Indiana University, and from Smith College.
