Inventory

Introduction

Louis A. Fuoco, Jr. was born on April 4, 1928 in Bellport, NY. He moved to East Patchogue, NY, where he lived and worked throughout his life. Mr. Fuoco graduated from the Werbel Institute of Insurance, Hempstead, NY and was a Republican-Conservative member of the Suffolk County Legislature from 1970-1976, representing the third legislative district. He also owned the Louis A. Fuoco, Jr. Insurance Agency in Patchogue, NY and was part-owner with his father of the Louis A. Fuoco Bus Service in East Patchogue, NY.

Mr. Fuoco was a member of the Atlantic Republican Club, the president of the Brookhaven Italian-American Services Club and a member of the Hagerman Volunteer Fire Department of East Patchogue. His wife was Josephine Fuoco and they had four children. Mr. Fuoco passed away on October 26, 2001.

This collection was given as a gift by Louis A. Fuoco, Jr. on January 5, 1976.

Scope and Content

The Louis A. Fuoco Jr. Collection is comprised of approximately 11 cubic feet of general office materials including: correspondence, committee minutes, hearing transcripts, reports, publications and maps. It has been organized into three series: I. Subject Listings, II. Reports, III. Oversized Items.

The series original order has been maintained where applicable and re-created in others to assist researchers more easily. Items housed in acidic or metal housings have been removed from these housings for preservation reasons and have been placed in acid free folders and containers. All metal fasteners have been removed and replaced in accordance with acceptedarchival standards of preservation.

I. Subject Files: agendas, minutes, correspondence; arranged alphabetically by subject and chronologically within each subject folder.

II. Reports: published reports issued annually; arranged alphabetically and then chronologically.

III. Oversized Items: maps, blueprints, aerial photos and some oversized newspapers. Due to the size of these items, materials were removed from the subject folders.
