NY-BEST Markets Conference: Energy Storage as a Solution
This conference will focus on how battery and energy storage technologies are transforming the electric grid, increasing grid efficiency and resiliency while also helping us meet our goals of growing an innovative economy and promoting a clean environment.
The Long Island electricity market is significant and is undergoing a transformation. Energy storage has an opportunity to play a major role in Long Island's future grid, from enabling widescale deployment of renewable energy, to behind-the-meter applications in buildings and applications with microgrids. This conference will provide attendees with information on energy storage technology capabilities and facilitate connections among the industry, interested businesses, policy makers and stakeholders interested in developing energy storage projects in New York and on Long Island. The workshop introduces the fundamental concepts in Photovoltaic technology. It provides
training in the design, installation and maintenance of grid connected residential
photovoltaic systems. The course is developed based on Task Analysis of NABCEP. Topics
covered include:
In addition, basic electrical concepts and safety issues related to PV installation and maintenance work will be covered. It is a 6-day, 48-hour training course that includes extensive hands-on experience and real world applications. The first day provides an introduction to basic electricity and PV concepts and it is optional for engineers and licensed electricians. Students are eligible to take the NABCEP Entry Level PV Exam after completing this course. The Solar Energy Center at Farmingdale State College is accredited as a training institution and continuing education institution on solar energy by the Institute of Sustainable Power. This is the first such center to be accredited in the Northeast and the fourth in the entire USA. The center promotes education, applied research, training and public awareness in sustainable energy and in particular solar energy. Farmingdale State College is the site of the first utility scale photovoltaic demonstration project in the Northeast U.S. Three 20 kW units and one 20 kW unit were installed at various locations on campus in 1992 and 1993 respectively. |

International Energy and Sustainability Conference 2014

The third International Energy and Sustainability Conference will be held in October 2014 at Farmingdale State College.
The conference will bring together the latest research and development works in energy and related topics, along with industrial and management issues and challenges. Experts in research as well as in industry will be invited to present the emerging technologies and future directions in their field. New Horizons in 3D Printing and Digital and Additive Manufacturing
Join us for the first of several conferences discussing emerging research and industrial
aspects of 3D printing and digital and additive manufacturing. This conference is
designed to catalyze the formation of collaborations with academia and industry and explore the promise of 3D printing and digital and additive manufacturing, through
discussions and presentations on such areas as:
- advances in materials science and engineering, related to additive manufacturing and 3D printing
- bioprinting for the synthesis of tissue, implants, and biomedical devices
- technology design and advancement for 3D printing and additive manufacturing, from the nano to the macro scale
- nanocomposite materials and structures formed via 3D printing/additive manufacturing
