Media and Belonging: Communication, Technology and Cultural Productions in Latin America

The Latin American and Caribbean Studies Center at SUNY Stony Brook invites you to its fourteenth annual graduate student conference to be held on Friday, April 10, 2015 at Stony Brook Manhattan (387 Park Ave South, between 27th & 28th St. 3rd floor). Free and open to the public.
This conference aims to promote discussions on the historical and critical consideration of diverse forms of media and their relationship with the formation and the contestation of identities concerning questions of ideology, class, ethnicity, gender, family and religion, among others, both in national and transnational Latin American contexts. We welcome submissions in English, Spanish and Portuguese from disciplines including –but not restricted to– Anthropology, History, Literary, Film and Cultural Studies, Linguistics, Art History, Sociology, Media Studies, Journalism, Regional and Global Studies, and Political Science.
