Stony Brook Union and Jasmine
Gretchen Favors has worked in campus food service for 20 years, starting as a cashier and continuously advancing through a variety of management roles. In her current role as general manager at the Stony Brook Union Commons and Jasmine, she oversees day-to-day operations, managing customer service, client relations, human resources, and employee development. One of her strongest skills, and her favorite part of her job, is engaging customers. Gretchen enjoys being actively involved in a variety of campus activities and unique events, such as the “Raw Bar” event she helped organize, which featured uncooked vegetables and ended up being a huge hit with the initially skeptical students. Her favorite foods are Jamaican cuisine and any type of seafood. She is also an enthusiastic music fan who sings and plays piano. Gretchen and her husband have two sons, whom she shares her love of basketball with.
