As Professor of English, Narayan Hegde teaches English, Indian, and World Literatures at SUNY College at Old Westbury. He earned his Ph. D. from the State University of New York at Stony Brook for his thesis on Indian thought in the poetry and plays of W. B. Yeats. As a Senior Fellow of the American Institute of Indian Studies, Prof. Hegde has undertaken several projects of translating significant works of Kannada literature into English. Among his translated works are Stallion of the Sun and Other Stories by U. R. Anantha Murthy, “Annayya’s Anthropology” by A. K. Ramanujan, and a 19th century Kannada drama, The Marriage Farce of Iggappa Hegade. He is a recipient of the Katha Translation Award.
