Workshop for Classical Indian Dance Students

For students, faculty and other participants from the Center for India Studies, who are Classical Indian Dancers, Professor Amy Sullivan would like to offer them a free class on Saturday, March 17th. 

The class will take place at our Center for Dance, Movement and Somatic Learning, as part of the Festival of the Moving Body. In order to do so, please gather the names for me (not to exceed 20); and then send them to me through my email by Friday, March 9th. Please let me know if you think there will be interested participants.

Rajyashree Ramesh

Rajyashree Ramesh (B.A., M.A. socio-cultural studies) is a dancer, choreographer, master teacher, Certified Laban Movement Analyst (CLMA) and Founder-Director of Rasika Dance Theatre International. Trained in the classical Indian dance forms of Bharatanatyam and Kuchipudi, her style of performing and teaching has been nurtured by several master teachers in India, guided by scholars, influenced by a 30-year practice of Yoga and enriched through various movement studies in the West that include a certification in Laban/Bartenieff Movement Analysis (USA). Her teaching career in India and Germany over the last three decades includes an in-depth dance training for professional dancers as much as community work in outreach programs. Her dance and choreographic signature is unique in its multidimensional approach, enhanced by her interaction with several cultures. Recipient of German state grants for her innovative choreographic ideas, her stage productions and commissioned work range from traditional to multinational, multidisciplinary and cross-cultural work with international artists.
