This cross-disciplinary series presents the latest research in 18th–century studies. The series this semester explores Italian Enlightenment, Pacific exploration, translation and natural history, the relations between painting and music and the role of reputation in the making of the woman artists. The international cast of speakers include Vanessa Smith (University of Sydney), Barbara Naddeo (Fordham), Guiseppe Gazzola (Stony Brook), Roger Parker (King's College London), and Amanda Vickery (Queen Mary London). The series is co-sponsored by the Departments of English, European Languages and Literature, History and the College of Arts and Sciences.
