International Applicant Information
The process for collection of documentation is an entirely online process through
Visa and Immigration Services. If appropriate, you will receive an email to check
your SOLAR account and begin the application process under the heading "Visa and Immigration
Services." Please follow all directions carefully. For more information regarding

If your native or primary language is not English, you must take an English proficiency
test. To be considered for admission, an applicant must present an acceptable score
on the TOEFL or IELTS test.
The minimum scores are as follows:
iBT: Internet-based test 90
IELTS:Overall score of 7 with no subsection below 6.
The Stony Brook institutional code for the TOEFL test is 2548. For IELTS test, it is 5366.
For institutions attended abroad, an evaluation by appropriate agency to determine US equivalencies, official transcript and translation are required. Transcripts from institutions outside the U.S. must be evaluated by an organization such as World Education Services (www.wes.org). If you select the new WES ICAP service, we will accept the copies of the transcript(s) WES sends to us as official.
