Stony Brook University’s New Official Bookstore Coming This Fall
July 20, 2016 –
Stony Brook University has teamed up with Amazon to be our official bookstore starting in the fall 2016 semester. This convenient online experience will offer more opportunities for students to save on their overall costs of course materials.
Over the next few months, we will be transitioning to Amazon as the official bookstore. During the transition, students will be able to order their new, used, rental and digital textbooks and other course materials through Stony Brook’s custom Amazon experience – stonybrooku.amazon.com. Later this year, Amazon will open a fully staffed pickup location at the lower level of the Melville library to pick up and return your Amazon orders.
Students wishing to sell back summer textbooks may now do so through Amazon’s Textbooks Trade-In Program. Through this program, students can select the textbook they wish to sell, get an instant quote, print out a shipping label, ship it to Amazon for free and receive Amazon merchandise credit in the form of a gift card.
While Amazon will serve as our official textbook provider, Barnes & Noble will continue to operate our campus stores, Shop Red West at the lower level of the Melville library, Shop Red East in Level 2 of Health Sciences, and Seawolves MarketPlace at the Student Activities Center, featuring items such as school supplies and official Stony Brook licensed goods and gear. Later in the semester, Shop Red West will also include a full-service Starbucks.
Stay tuned for additional information on how to place your textbook orders with Amazon and all the great benefits of this new service. For updates on the transition process, visit stonybrook.edu/bookstore.
