Nurse Practitioner - Clinical Instructor

Required Qualifications

Current New York State Registered Nurse Licensure. Master's Degree in Nursing. New York State Certification as a Nurse Practitioner in Psychiatry. Three years' experience as a nurse practitioner to include a minimum of two years of psychiatry experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Clinical experience as a provider in an acute psychiatric setting and/or consultation and liaison psychiatry role, teaching experience is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities & Requirements

Clinician needed to serve a a Nurse Practitioner in Psychiatric Emergency Division (CPEP). NP will conduct psychiatric evaluations/assessments, psychopharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions, and level-of care recommendations for individuals presenting in CPEP. NP will involve families, care providers and obtain collateral history for proper assessments and discharge. NP will provide psychiatric consultations to Medical ED as needed. Will collaborate with Medical ED and CPEP physicians, nurses, social workers and counselors in screening, intervention, referrals to treatment and general discharge planning. Will provide education to staff and trainees. Common conditions addressed may include but are not limited to psychosis, affective, cognitive disorders, impairments in capacity for medical decisions making, depression, anxiety, suicide/violence risk assessment, alcohol and substance related disorders including withdrawal and other substance misuse syndromes. The Nurse Practitioner will be eligible for the incentive plan as well as the ability to moonlight. All other duties as assigned.

Special Notes

This is a non-tenure track position. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Internal and external search to occur simultaneously. Anticipated Start Date: As soon as possible.
