Clinical Instructor - Nurse Practitioner
Required Qualifications
Current NYS RN license. Master's degree in Nursing. NYS license as an Adult Nurse
Practitioner.
Preferred Qualifications
Additional years of related experience in inpatient internal medicine or outpatient
internal medicine practice. Additional years related to management of infectious
diseases.
Responsibilities & Requirements
Qualified candidates will demonstrate superior patient care and possess outstanding
communication skills while adhering to our highest standard of excellence. The Nurse
Practitioner will report to Dr. Fries in the Division of Infectious Diseases and be
responsible for the following:
- Independently assess and evaluate new and follow up patients with complicated infectious
diseases referred for outpatient antibiotic therapy (OPAT).
- Perform physical exams.
- Prescribe, adjust and oversee antibiotic prescriptions.
- Review, evaluate, and make recommendations regarding laboratory findings for patients.
- Manage outpatient phone calls, pharmacy and home health agencies.
- Work alongside Infectious Disease faculty and trainees.
- Follow-up with patients regarding laboratory and radiology tests by telephone or in
person.
- Follow patients assigned to the OPAT inpatient service.
- Follow patients in clinic who are discharged on intravenous antibiotics.
- Oversee and assist with transition of care planning.
- Demonstrate skills in collaboration, teamwork, organization and problem solving to
achieve goals.
- Document and update the EMR.
Special Notes
This is a non-tenure track position. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime
provisions of the FLSA. Internal and external search to occur simultaneously. Anticipated Start Date: As soon as possible.
