Nurse Practitioner-Clinical Instructor

Required Qualifications

Master's degree in Nursing. Nurse Practitioner certification in Psychiatry. Valid New York State license as a Nurse Practitioner. One year full-time work experience in clinical psychiatry, including prescribing.

Preferred Qualifications

Clinical experience in Adult Psychiatry Outpatient Program.  Clinical experience in Geriatric Psychiatry.

Responsibilities & Requirements

Stony Brook University is undergoing tremendous growth under a new President, Dean and Chair of Psychiatry. Our adult outpatient psychiatry service is expanding and we are looking for individuals who welcome the challenge and satisfaction of providing outpatient psychiatric care to a diverse population win collaboration with a motivated group of clinicians, educators and researchers.



The Nurse Practitioner in the Adult Outpatient Psychiatry Program will provide services to adult patients, including triage, diagnostic evaluations, follow-up care, prescribing, and individual counseling and group treatment as part of a multidisciplinary team. Shifts totaling 40 hours per week. There are also opportunities for supervising/mentoring nurse practitioner students and clinical research involving psychiatric inpatient and outpatient treatment.

Special Notes

This is a non-tenure track position. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Internal and external search to occur simultaneously. Anticipated Start Date: As soon as possible.
