Clinical Assistant to Clinical Professor

Required Qualifications

M.D./D.O. with Board Eligibility or Board Certification in Adult Psychiatry. Eligibility for New York State licensure.

Preferred Qualifications

Clinical experience in an Adult Psychiatry Outpatient Program. Experience in transcranial magnetic brain stimulation and intranasal ketamine. Track record of research/teaching experience in Psychiatry.

Responsibilities & Requirements

The Clinical Assistant Professor of Interventional Psychiatry will serve as an Attending Psychiatrist in the Adult Outpatient Psychiatry Program. Responsibilities include direct patient care in the adult outpatient clinic, including diagnostic evaluations, follow-up care, telepsychiatry and teaching and supervision of medical students , residents and fellows.

This position offers clinical opportunities to work with multiple advanced treatment modalities such as pharmacotherapy, psychotherapy, ketamine intra nasal or intra venous therapies (KLINT or KIVT), transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) therapies, vagus nerve stimulation (VNS) therapies - to treat patients with treatment-resistant unipolar or bipolar depression as well as research opportunities with these novel treatment modalities.

Teaching and clinical supervision of psychiatric residents and medical students and other trainees is an integral part of this position, along with direct involvement in process improvement and program development. The attending psychiatrist will perform evaluations and treatment of patients with Treatment Resistant Depression (TRD) for/with advanced antidepressant therapies such as Pharmacotherapy, Psychotherapy, Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), Ketamine Intra Nasal or Intra Venous Therapy (KINT or KIVT), Electro Convulsive Therapy (ECT), Vagus Nerve Stimulation (VNS), as well as other advanced antidepressant treatment modalities.

The attending psychiatrist will perform Shifts totaling 40 hours per week with cross coverage as necessary, including weekend/holiday coverage for a 30-bed Inpatient Adult Psychiatry Unit and consults (one day of call approximately once every 6 to 8 weeks). There are also opportunities for clinical research involving psychiatric inpatient and outpatient treatment and in collaboration with other departments.

Special Notes

This is a non-tenure track position.  FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA.  Internal and external search to occur simultaneously. Anticipated Start Date:  As soon as possible.
