Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychiatry

Required Qualifications

MD/DO with Board Eligibility or Board Certification in Adult Psychiatry, Eligibility for New York State licensure.

Preferred Qualifications

Clinical experience in Adult Psychiatry Outpatient Program.  Track record of research/teaching experience in Psychiatry.

Responsibilities & Requirements

Stony Brook University is undergoing tremendous growth under a new President, Dean and Chair of Psychiatry. Our adult outpatient psychiatry service is expanding and we are looking for individuals who welcome the challenge and satisfaction of providing outpatient psychiatric care to a diverse population in collaboration with a motivated group of clinicians, educators and researchers.

The Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychiatry will serve as an Attending Psychiatrist in the Adult Outpatient Psychiatry Program. Responsibilities include direct patient care in the adult outpatient clinic, including diagnostic evaluations, follow-up care, and teaching and supervision of medical students, residents and fellows. The attending psychiatrist will also have direct patient care with some adult patients as part of a transition to adulthood. Shifts totaling 40 hours per week with cross coverage as necessary, including weekend/holiday coverage for a 28-bed Inpatient Adult Psychiatry Unit and consults (one day of call approximately once every 7-8 weeks). There are also opportunities for clinical research involving psychiatric inpatient and outpatient treatment and in collaboration with other departments.

Special Notes

This is a non-tenure track position. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Internal and external search to occur simultaneously. Anticipated Start Date: As soon as possible.
