Clinical Assistant Professor

Required Qualifications

M.D./D.O. with Board Eligibility or Board Certification in Adult Psychiatry.  Eligibility for New York State licensure.

Preferred Qualifications

Clinical experience in an adult psychiatry outpatient program, an integrated primary setting or a consultation and liaison psychiatry program.  Track record of research/teaching experience in psychiatry.

Responsibilities & Requirements

This position will require clinical participation at the World Trade Center Health Program's clinical sites in Mineola and Commack.  Approximately 60% of the work effort will be devoted to patient care.  40% will be devoted to clinically related research education.  Administrative duties include general oversight of various aspects of the World Trade Center Health Program (WTCHP).  Clinical research activities currently emphasize the psychological and social problems that occurred as a result of exposure to the World Trade Center (WTC) disaster.  Participation in clinical programs involving both the identification and treatment of WTC responder related problems as necessary. 

Older adult outpatient psychiatry service is expanding and we are looking for individuals who welcome the challenge and satisfaction of providing outpatient psychiatric care to a diverse population in collaboration with a motivated group of clinicians, educators and researchers.

The Stony Brook University Department of Psychiatry and the Stony Brook Research Foundation WTCHP is seeking an outstanding psychiatrist to become part of our growing integrated psychiatry program that delivers behavioral health care within multiple primary care settings.  The program includes a collaboration team of psychiatrists, psychologists, primary care providers, social workers, RN care coordinators, and case managers who are all dedicated to providing comprehensive services to a diverse population of patients.

Responsibilities include diagnostic evaluations and consultations of primary care patients and discussion/implementation of treatment recommendations with the primary care provider, as well as opportunities for teaching and supervision of medical students, residents and fellows, in both psychiatry and medicine.  There are also opportunities for clinical research involving the development and implementation of integrated care models, as well as psychiatric outpatient treatment in collaboration with other departments.

Special Notes

This is a non-tenure track position.  FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA.  Internal and external search to occur simultaneously.  Anticipated Start Date: As soon as possible. 

Travel between the Commack and Mineola sites is required - position will be based from both sites with a 50/50 split.  Occasional Saturdays will be required.
