Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor

Required Qualifications

MD/DO Degree. Board Certified/Eligible in General Surgery. Eligible for New York State License.

Preferred Qualifications

Fellowship training. Demonstrated clinical and basic research capabilities. Interest and experience supervising undergraduate/graduate medical students, residents and fellows. Commitment to an academic and research/writing career, including a proven academic track record and evidence of leadership and mentoring skills.

Responsibilities & Requirements

As a member of the Department of Surgery team, the successful incumbent will be responsible for assisting with the continued development of the clinical program in XGS (Exigent General Surgery) acute care surgery in the Division of Bariatric, Forgut & Advanced GI Surgery at the University Hospital. The candidate will participate in general surgery call and have ample opportunity to develop an academic surgical practice and research/education/writing career. There is an RRC approved General Surgery residency finishing six residents a year. Candidates will participate in research conferences and grand rounds, as well as other committees and events in the Department of Surgery, and contribute analysis and criticism to the research and/or lectures.

Special Notes

This is a non-tenure track position.  FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA.  Internal and external search to occur simultaneously. Anticipated Start Date: May 2019.
