Assistant Professor

Required Qualifications

MD or DO and PhD degrees with experience in grant writing and success with publications.  License to practice medicine in New York State and board certified or board eligible in General Preventive Medicine.  Completion of an ACGME approved General Preventive Medicine residency training program prior to start.

Preferred Qualifications

Additional MPH degree.  Demonstrated commitment, proficiency and grant funding in outcomes and public health research with a strong record of interdisciplinary collaborative research and a demonstrated ability to contribute to and lead team efforts.  Experience with application process for residency training grants.  Recent clinical experience with hospital based Employee Health Services, including health promotion and disease prevention.

Responsibilities & Requirements

The successful candidate will have an academic background and will be responsible for developing and maintaining a competitive extramurally funded research program with a focus on outcomes research, systematic reviews and meta analyses in the area of prevention, cancer control and health disparities.  The Assistant Professor will also assume the duties of the Assistant Program Director for the Preventive Medicine Residency Program.  This will entail, among other things, chairing the Clinical Competency Committee, implementing the ACS and HRSA grant objectives, developing curriculum around interprofessional training and devising related evaluation methodology, training and assisting with preparations for next ACGME site visit in 2019, and directing the Clinical Preventive Services Course.  The Assistant Professor will also be responsible for providing clinical care in the University Hospital Employee Health and Wellness Service and precepting preventive medicine residents rotating through the service.

Special Notes

This is a tenure track position.  FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA.  Internal and external search to occur simultaneously.  Anticipated Start Date: July 1, 2018.
