Assistant / Associate Professor

Required Qualifications

MD or MD/PhD.  Board Certified in Internal Medicine.  Board Certified/Board Eligible in Cardiovascular Diseases and eligible/certified by the National Board of Echocardiography.  Experience in Clinical care and teaching (inpatient and outpatient).

Preferred Qualifications

One year of independent practice in cardiovascular diseases.  Minimum of level II training in echocardiography (including TTE, TEE, 3D and stress echo).  Prior support of TVAR, LAA occlusion devices, structural mitral and intraoperative echocardiography are desirable.  Opportunities to read nuclear studies are also available.  Clinical, translational or basic research experience.

Responsibilities & Requirements

Stony Brook University Medical Center is a 500+ bed tertiary care, medical state-of-the-art facility, located on the north shore of Long Island, providing cardiovascular care to the 1.4 million residents of the island.  Long Island provides a variety of living environments ranging from a cosmopolitan style with big city amenities to suburban / small town feel with top notch school systems and quality of life.  The Assistant/Associate Professor will have outstanding clinical, teaching, technical and interpersonal skills, with a strong desire to work in both the inpatient and outpatient settings, as well as teach medical students, residents and fellows.

Special Notes

This is a non-tenure track position.  FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA.  Internal and external search to occur simultaneously.  Anticipated Start Date: As soon as possible.  To qualify for a senior faculty appointment, the candidate must meet the criteria established by the School of Medicine (School of Medicine's Criteria for Appointment, Promotion and Tenure).
