Assistant/Associate Professor

Required Qualifications

MD/DO Degree, Board Certified/Eligible in General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care.  Must have or be eligible for a New York State License.

Preferred Qualifications

Fellowship training strongly preferred.  Applicants should have an academic focus with interest and commitment to clinical practice, medical education and research.  Existing research funding is desirable, but not required.  Academic rank will be commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities & Requirements

As a member of the General Surgery, Trauma and Surgical Critical Care Teams, the Faculty member will be responsible for assisting with the continued development of the clinical programs in General Surgery, Trauma, and Surgical Critical Care at the University Hospital.  Members of the department participate in general surgery, trauma and critical care call, and have ample opportunity to develop an academic surgical practice and research/education/writing career.  There is an RRC approved General Surgery, Trauma and Critical Care residency finishing six residents a year.

Candidates will participate in research conferences and grand rounds, as well as other committees and events in the Department of Surgery, and they will contribute analysis and criticism to the research and/or lectures.  Candidates will see patients in the outpatient setting and perform surgical procedures.  To qualify for senior faculty appointment, the candidate must meet the criteria established by the School of Medicine (School of Medicine's Criteria for Appointment, Promotion and Tenure).

Special Notes

This is a non-tenure track position.  FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA.  Internal and external search to occur simultaneously.  Anticipated Start Date: July 2018.
