EE Online Mission

The BSEE online program is an upper division program intended for traditional students seeking a flexible schedule in pursuing a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and also non-traditional students who may work and have family responsibilities while they are enrolled in the program and seeking a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.

The ECE department seeks to educate engineers in the BSEE online program in electrical engineering who will possess the basic concepts, tools, skills, and vision necessary to maintain the technological and economic competitiveness of the United States. The department achieves this through a balance of required courses and judicious choices of technical electives in three stages of undergraduate studies in electrical engineering. The first stage, usually taken before students enter the Stony Brook BSEE online program, teaches the students basic mathematics and science.  The second stage teaches the fundamental techniques of analysis and design of systems.  The third stage teaches in depth some specialized areas of electrical engineering through choices of technical electives.

The Electrical Engineering BS Program is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, https://www.abet.org, under the General Criteria and the Program Criteria for Electrical, Computer, Communications, Telecommunication(s) and Similarly Named Engineering Programs.
