  Stony Brook Director for the Confucius Institute
E.K. Profile Dr. Tan joined Stony Brook in 2007 as Assistant Professor in Comparative Literature and Cultural Studies, after earning his Ph.D. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Cultural Studies and Comparative Literature (CSCL). He has worked closely with the university undergraduate curriculum as Director of Undergraduate Studies for his department and adviser for the Cinema and Cultural Studies, Comparative Literature, and Women’s and Gender Studies undergraduate programs. His research on Sinophone studies and Chinese Diaspora studies will provide him with the knowledge and tools to serve as Director for CI-SBU.

Dr. Fang Shijiao


Dr. Fang is a full professor from Zhongnan University of Economics and Law (ZUEL). She began teaching at ZUEL as assistant professor in 1996 after earning her master's degree in ZUEL. In 2003, she completed her Ph.D. in Economics in the same institution. She is appointed by ZUEL and Hanban to work as the Chinese director for CI-SBU from August 2014 to August 2017.
